Stem Cell Therapy in Pets

Stem cells are extracted from the fat, bone marrow, and umbilical cord blood of an animal of the same species as your pet and used to treat your animal companion in stem cell therapy.

The stem cells will be injected into the injured, diseased, or damaged area of your dog's or cat's body by your veterinarian. The stem cells will be able to replace or assist in the repair of damaged or dead tissues, reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and stimulating the growth of new tissues.

Veterinary Stem Cell For Dogs

What does Stem Cell Therapy Treat?

Veterinary stem cell therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions, diseases, and injuries in cats and dogs. Some of the most common are as follows:
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Damaged ligaments
  • Fractured bones
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Liver and kidney disease
  • Oral disease in cats (stomatitis)

Is Stem Cell Therapy Right for Your Pet?

It can be difficult to predict the outcomes of stem cell therapy at times. In some cases, cats and dogs respond very well to stem cell treatment at first, but then relapse. In other cases, however, pets will show incredible improvements that will last a lifetime.

Our veterinarians in Laguna Beach will assess your cat's or dog's suitability for stem cell therapy based on the laboratory providing the stem cells for the procedure, as well as your pet's age, breed, general health, previous treatment, response history, severity, and duration of your companion's condition, and sedation risk.
